As you can see, I colored Tyson's Thanos illustration piece on my phone. |
So back in January, I decided to hit up some illustrator friends of mine who are big comic fans and proposed a project where they do a drawing, pen, pencil, etc, and i would digitally color them using layers on autodesk (coloring on my phone or on my ipad. The goal was to kinda build a collective, proposing challenges that would be great team building exercises (and a good color exercise / study for myself). Ultimately, after everything is all said and done, i would compile all of the pieces and make a one page comic strip, making use of the imagery to help set it up like a comic book layout page. I had a lot of fun with these.

Here is the culmination of everyone's pieces that I colored, and compiled it into a comic page. When Joanthony sent me his piece, which is a picture of Modok, I was trying to figure out how I would combine everyone's pieces together into one solid piece. WHen I realized that only Tyson and Joanthony made pieces based on Villains, I figured that i could play off of that angle. SO I colored up Jonthony's Modok, added in a laboratory background (inspired by Genndy Tartakovsky's Dexter laboratory backgrounds , I implemented that aspect in there. I then Implemented Dr Doom digitally drawing him in (instead of drawing him on pen and paper/ snapping a picture/scanning him) instead. Then I minimized everyones images and decided to put them in to the computer monitors /screens and then looking at the image, I was able to tell a story, and proceeded to write dialogue to make it feel like a comic page (paying homage to George Perez's stuff on Infinity Gauntlet and Crisis on Infinite Earths. |
Also i did a cute collaboration with a certain florcita, Milz. She pushed me to go for a prettier color pallet :)
