Connected Short Comic Out Now!

Intergalactic X-Change review by Anthony Andujar Jr 4/8/2020

Hi guys, I usually post my comic book reviews at my Comics and All page, but I figured since I'm more active on this page, that I'd post it onto here.

        Two best friends, Chase and Harold have the adventure of a lifetime when they discover their exchange student is an alien from another Galaxy. What kind of adventure awaits them? 

      This 158 page graphic novel is full of colorful characters some of which are endearing, and relatable, while other characters are out of this world! Chase is the main protagonist of this story, and his goal is to be just like his father who was a famous astronaut. Chase is ambitious, and dedicated to reaching the stars, but that oftentimes leads him to trouble. Harold is Chase's best friend, a young genius that is just as enthusiastic about what is beyond his world as Chase is. These two are definitely enjoyable to read about, seeing them get into trouble while also learning about themselves along the way.

      Franky the Alien is a fun character that definitely fits the mold of a classic alien visitor who comes from Hyperia Prime, his home planet. Much like most alien visitors of pop culture, Franky's goal is to visit Earth, to gain knowledge beyond his world. Much like the other characters he too is in awe of the world around him, wanting to learn about what humanity has to offer, and in his own way, teaches those around them about the potential that they have for themselves and those around them. Speaking of pop culture, Stephens definitely makes some subtle nods to various staples of science fiction that keen readers will surely appreciate. 

The motivations of the characters and the direction it takes will keep readers invested, attracting new readers who are currently making their way through elementary and junior high, while reminding older readers the importance of holding on to the childlike awe that most often forget.  In regards to the antagonists such as the Overlord and his henchmen, they provide a good balance of fun and cartoon villany which makes it perfect for an all ages comic such as this. Stephens offers some interesting twists that admittedly surprised me, and due to his writing, the charm of the characters, it will surely keep readers engaged.

     In regards to the art, Butch Mapa and Lisa Moore deliver fun childhood nostalgia with every rendered panel and page. Butch Mapa's art style is different than what he's known for in his current work on IDW/Marvel's Avengers. That isn't a bad thing at all since he's applying different styles for each of the respective works that he is attached to. Mapa is able to provide a sense of youthful wonder, adventure and energy to this original graphic novel. Coupled with Lisa Moore's lively color work, and Christopher Barrett’s lettering, the team accomplishes the visual spirit of adventure that Stephens channels in writing. 

   Despite the current state of the world, in times like these, it's important to always have something positive to look to, especially for kids and families alike. And with a book such as Intergalactic X-Change, I think it is a fantastic comic book that will keep families and kids occupied. Perfect for family book clubs, and a great story that all ages can enjoy. I definitely recommend a book which has all the best elements that make a fun all ages science fiction adventure. You can purchase this graphic novel digitally for the Kindle through Amazon at the price of $2.99. I definitely recommend adding this to your pull list.

My Anthology Series: Stories from the Hill by Anthony Andujar Jr

         Hello everyone, I figured I'd make a separate post focused on the Anthology Comic series that I've been working on for the last year to present. I've made a couple of comics on this blog, but I wanted to focus on the universe of stories that I've been making that are more towards the content that I like to make and usually obsessed with.  Majority of these short stories that you see here are black and white comics, inspired by concepts that we see and hear about on a daily basis. From Large shadow government run corporations, to nightmares, cybernetic performance enhancement fighters, to man made weapons of mass destruction, to good intentions turned terrible tragedies. I've always enjoyed anthologies, and what they allow storytellers to do. Comics, films, and shows like The Animatrix, Batman:Gotham Knight, The Twilight Zone, Sandman, Love, Death and Robots, and stories similar to them in nature have always been full of great stories, all interspersed yet loosely connected in some form of way to their respective worlds. I always found that more interesting than making a long form series where I would get bored of making because it is too tied up in one concept.

  But there is something freeing about anthologies that give you the freedom of making stories that don't have to be tied up in one particular narrative, style or genre.  These stories, despite being fictional, are spread across time and space, taking inspiration from a lot of music that I listen to, headlines, and things that have always inspired, fascinated and terrified me. Whether its cyberpunk, mystery, horror, thriller, romance, I try to weave these genres into stories that loosely connect, creating stories as if they were historic events in it of itself. Life is stranger than fiction and the future is more closer than we tend to believe. Anyway, I plan on updating this post with more stories. Some are silent stories, and others a stories with narration and dialogue. I hope these stories can be fun, and thought provoking to some degree.

 So here are the stories, of when they were chronologically made. I'm hoping to physically publish these stories, as they will have some exclusive content, along with a digital PDF of all the collected stories in one volume, not seen here or on any of my social media's, with story notes, sketches etc. Anyhow, that is the main plan when I'm not working on other projects with collaborators.  So for the meantime, I hope you enjoy. Antdujar94 Comics Anthology #6: K-20-AD by Anthony Andujar Jr 3/29/2020

Hey y'all, I was gonna originally post this short comic of my anthology out on Wednesday, but given that it's my birthday, and I've lived to see level 26, I figured I'd post it here, for you guys. To let y'all know, this short comic is part of my anthology. So, if you read Man Made Weapon, K-20-AD, Life Is But A Nightmare, Final Round, Drive To Eden, and The Last Valentine's Day on Earth (which I'll re-letter for the Anthology when I put it out) which are all part of this universe caused by the evil Hill Corporation. Eden Corp (which some keen readers of Drive to Eden will remember) is the one company that tries to actually do some good, but its not enough to counter the influence of Hill Corp.

I've been building a universe inspired by the fallout of an evil corporation that has its finger in many different places, fields and spaces. Stories such as these have always been inspired by my fears that could occur in society because that's stuff that is always on mind. This current story is definitely a reaction to my father's obsession with the headlines that have been occurring all over the news in regards to Covid-19/ Corona Virus. The world that we live in, and how big corporations are willing to put a price tag on peoples lives, is something one can't make up. So I took my fears and made a short comic based on it, because life is stranger than fiction. So, happy birthday to me, and here is my gift, to you, the people! Anyhow, Enjoy!

Antdujar94 Comics Anthology #5 : Drive to Eden (Collected/Complete) 2/25/2020-3/25/2020

Woah! NANIIIIIIi!! What is this!? So, I made a poll on my personal page where I have the option of either posting the entire thing in my blog, or post 10 pages a week for you all to read this 48 page silent comic. So I figured I'd format it that way. So I figured just for kicks, I'd post the first chapter tonight, and then, post chapter 2 tomorrow!

This 48 page short comic is the fifth of my anthology that I've been working on. Much of these stories are loosely inspired by dreams or actual experiences where I just apply it to a concept and exaggerate it for stories sake as all creatives do. Inspired by many things, but at it's core, it's a road trip between a man who is a father, and a boy, who is an heir to the last remaining company aiming to preserve humanity despite the planet being a few years from being on the brink of death. This story is a love letter to all things that I love in regards to comics, manga, anime, science fiction etc. So, there you have it. When I first posted this one-shot, I posted it as a weekly 10 page comic on my instagram page from February 25th-March 25th. But now that that is over, I figured I'd make a post where everyone can read the entire comic in one sitting instead of clicking links etc. Anywho, If this is your first time reading this, dope! If you're just reading it so you could have a binge session, thats cool too!  Enjoy! For I have spoken! And just to let you know, the anthologies are single stories, but they do connect in ways that will be revealed over time.
