Man Made Weapon (Short Anthology Comic #2) by Anthony Andujar Jr July 8, 2019

So, how did this short comic develop? Well, after months, enduring trimesters within the AEIP ASL Interpreting Program, I was going through a whole slew of emotions. Primarily feeling overwhelmed, a little depressed, and overly frustrated with how often I had to put things on the shelf ue to volunteering and doing a ton of essays and work. Despite the tight schedule, I was able to make stuff on the go. Despite making short humor comics, I was desperate to draw something that conveyed how I felt, but also reflected the state of the world. Technology is rapidly developing, and while it is a great tool and ally, in the hands of greedy individuals, it can be twisted, perverted and turned into the reckoning of all mankind. Whether its developing A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) that has the potential to become a rogue entity, or potential developments with nano technology and the potential dangers that could occur due to massive military industrial complexes that various elitest's that only see profit rather than utilizing the tech to help reduce global warming and find more medical cures. As technology advances, and war fare develops, so does the need to evolve the battle field.

That's when I started thinking about the various forms of technology that could be used, that are in development or that have yet to be revealed or have yet to exist. Months of listening to Beast Coast: Escape From New York, Niki , Joji, Rich Brian, Higher Brothers, Thom Yorke: Anima, Tyler the Creator : Igor, Flying Lotus: Flamagara, ASAP Rocky, Tool, Deftones, UNKLE: The Road pt 2, reading manga such as Gantz ( which I love), Nikolas Draper-Ivey's manga Xenogenesis, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, Battle Angel Alita: The Last Order, comics such as The Green Lantern (Morrison/ Sharp),  Immortal Hulk (Ewing/Bennett), The Wildstorm (Ellis/ Davis), The Batman Who Laughs (Snyder/Jock), Justice League (Snyder, Tynion and Co), The Flash (WIlliamson and Co), amongst other things. I felt the need to build off those influences and it helped me to create the kind of visual aesthetic and tone that I was looking for in regards to this short.  But, it wasn't until I met up with my co-writers lil Jose (Lord_ Sanchez), and Willinzy, and we talked about focusing more on making short comics so that it would be easier to produce rather than making 40 page books etc. Once they mentioned making short comics based on the topic/ theme, It fell right in line with what I was already doing.

SO it came together at the right time. They mentioned kaiju and that's when I started thinking about tweaking one of the monster shorts that I had been drawing. You can tell from the first page that the antagonist had a more human form, and then the following pages started to change since I wanted to align with the idea of Kaiju. But that's when I started to stray since I didn't want to do giant monsters, but more or less, creatures bred by war, bred by people in power who just want to see their profits flourish...that is until it gets out of hand, and then the test run goes sour. As most of life, whether its the nuclear energy, or drones, or anything that we make that could help us, I wanted to display how often that the creations of good intent always ends up getting twisted by others who have other motivations. Another thing I wanted to highlight was human trials, and the idea that people are sold by dreams, and then get tricked by those who pitched them. Its a bit cynical, yes, but when you think about the stories that creators and musicians live to tell, where they are held by contract, thinking they had a deal go one way, only to turn out another way that isn't favorable to the artist or to the individual.

Every time I leave my building, or take the subway, I would notice more homeless people on the subways, and streets like never before. That's when I started thinking about how many of them might have been sold on a dream, and maybe at one point, things went wrong, and then they end up being trapped. And like many of us, we all experience aspects of that, whether its the idea that college is the end all be all (which I graduated with an associates, and I'll advocate for community colleges). But even i know that there are other ways of progress beyond college. The idea that the military sells young men and women on an idea, when it isn't always gonna appeal to those that came in with noble ideals. Or a corporate job where it might be the stuff of dreams, only to realize that you're probably just a dime a dozen ready to be put in line, and sent off to a position that is the opposite of what was guaranteed or promised to you.

I thought about these situations, and conversations with friends and after months of those discussions, I wanted to embody all of those sentiments and feelings and well, I guess this is the result. Now even though this comic stems from these concepts and ideas that doesn't mean that it isn't open to interpretation as a silent story in it of itself. I figured that it was ambiguous enough for you to create an idea of what the story might be. Show, don't tell. So yeah, despite all of these influences and ideas, the narrative is entirely up to you to interpret. The dialogue, is up to you to describe. All that matters is how it makes you feel. SO, I hope you enjoy this short, and as always, thank you for the patience and respect. Enjoy.

Justice League issue 26 Review By Anthony Andujar Jr

During the League’s absence into the 6th dimension, The Legion of Doom were busy setting things in motion, masquerading as the saviors of reality and successfully swaying the public with their deeds.
Prior to Luthor’s supposed death, he broadcasted all over the world that the only way to save the earth is through DOOM, pitting earth against their heroes! In the midst of the Leagues return from the 6th dimension, they realize that they cannot face Perpetua alone. They must recruit beyond their ranks in order to save the multiverse. Who will the League recruit? What is the Legion of Doom planning during Luthor’s supposed absence? And could all of it lead to the death of Starman?
Man, if Snyder didn’t convince readers with issue 26, or the free comic book day issue of Year of the Villain, then surely what Tynion establishes in this issue will definitely be a fantastic jumping on point for what the creative team is doing within this series! Tynion and the rest of his creative team create some of the most iconic scenes that may even rival what was seen in the prior arc. Tynion gets to play around in this issue pulling from DC Comics lore, and effectively implementing elements of the vast lore of the DCU into this issue with strong execution that it’ll have everyone talking.
If you’re a fan of any variation of the DCU, I think you’ll find something special since Tynion reaches far and wide, and perfectly kickstarts Year of the Villain with surprise faces from various corners of the DCU, especially with the various Leaguers that participate in the impending battle for all of the multiverse. Tynion is no stranger when it comes to writing interactions with characters and team dynamics, and it shows in this issue. What’s even better about this issue is that readers get treated to many things that Snyder and Tynion have set up between the Justice League and JL Dark titles, and it all comes together in an exciting manner that will entice readers interest for what they’re setting up for the remainder of this year. While there is nothing mind-blowing, there is still a lot of important sets up, a lot of moving gears that will be crucial for what is to come. Tynion does a fantastic job at managing the A plot and B plot with Manhunter looking for Luthor’s supposed whereabouts while the League rebuild and recruit. Tynion writes a ton of great scenes and character interactions that make each moment in this book worth reading.
Javier Fernandez’s artwork is amazing and is a good transition from the prior issue. His layouts are well thought out and visually stunning. His ability to showcase every character in with various textures helps to make the issue and its characters standout. With Hi-Fi’s vibrant colors and Fernandez’s pencil work, it makes the entire issue an enjoyable read that is worth rereading again just for the details alone. Napolitano’s lettering does its job, effectively controlling the pace of the book with the placement of the letters, providing a good flow that helps the reader read along as they zoom through the pages. This is another solid installment for this flagship series that promises to deliver bigger and better things for many issues to come. It is worth adding to your pull list and trust me, for new comic book day, you wouldn’t want to miss it anyway!

Antdujar94 Comics Humor

I guess it was only a matter of time. But after having a ton of peers and friends telling me i should make a separate account that focuses more on my art instead of the developments, behind the scenes, music and the art, etc. So I figured... This will be a place dedicate to my humor comic strips and possibly my other comic projects. I got a ton of inspiration from stuff such as old 90's and early 2000's cartoons, Archie Comics, Calvin and Hobbs, The Boondocks, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko and Stan Lee amongst a ton of humor comics from childhood. So yeah, Welcome, and I hope you enjoy, and share the love for quirky, dumb, New York humor . You can check all of the latest updates at the @antdujar94comics Instagram page where I post every Wednesday.

Here.s the first few comic strips.

Superhero ASL 1 Avengers by Anthony Andujar Jr

So I've mentioned before, I'm a CODA (child of deaf adults), I'm an illustrator, a huge comic book reader since childhood, and currently in the process of becoming a professional ASL Interpreter. Given that the interperting program Chews up so much of my time, I don't get to draw and post as much as I'd like to. But maybe that's a good thing. I got inspired by a post on @btwnvillains page, and really got inspired by my friends @jj.visual.craft , and @the_deaf_funny_guy_ , and the rest of their efforts to combine two former esoteric things (ASL aka American sign language), and comic book culture into one thing. With that said, I started cracking down and made a template for myself for some pieces in the works. So here's version 1. So I figured I'd start with the Avengers, amongst other teams and characters. More characters and universes to come. But I guess in a funny way, I'm coming full circle with two things that are combining together in my life I guess.

Galactically Guilty (silent Anthology Comic #1 ) by Anthony Andujar Jr

It was February 13th, i woke up and I decided that before I head out to work, that I would take a quick shower. As i went to take a shower I discovered a grey-ish spider. As any human being such as myself knew, it ain't a huntsman/daddy long legs spider (non venomous), so I wasn't taking any chances. I managed to knock it into the shower drain and down it went I suppose. I felt paranoid and kept an eye out to make sure there wasn't another spider. So what happened after that? I couldn't help but imagine... What if, that spider was part of an alien colony? And so, I started illustrating a short silent comic story based on that day illustrating between February 13th all the way to March 16th. I've been wanting to deviate from the superhero genre to focus on anthology stories that are inspired by real life experiences, a bit of twilight zone, other genres of music and genres and random thoughts. Take real life, take your fears, take all of your experiences and make a story out of it. This year i'm hoping to make a slew of short silent anthology stories that i could publish for those that want to own a collection of. Anywho, I'm sure there is an extraterrestrial spider agent is on its way to investigate the murder of their ally... so here it is for your reading pleasure Galactically Guilty (silent comic) by Anthony Andujar Jr. Enjoy!

Spidey: In A Rush Valentines Day (silent) Fan Comic by Anthony Andujar Jr

I made this short comic while being in Jury Duty a few days before Valentines Day. I proceeded to color it and now, here it is in color! Evocative of the core 60's vibes of the original Ditko and Romita Spider-Man stories. Happy Valentines Day!
